I was first turned on to Og Mandino in the early 1990's. His smooth style and kind of "Philip Marlowe" personae intrigued me. He seemed like a swingin' cat!

His book "The Greatest Secret In The World" changed my direction in life; it sort of "prepped the field" for future planting of ideas. As a result my life is much better for it. The book revolves around a set of mantras you recite three times a day for thirty days. Eventually there are assignments to follow and you "graduate" knowing the Greatest Secret in the Universe. I know it!! Not gonna tell though....it's a secret!!

Really, this book makes you work for the answer and believe me when I tell you, if I were to tacitly reveal such a secret, you'd laugh because it seems so easy. Believe me, it's not.

In my younger days I studied Tae Kwon Do briefly and always I have held an interest in the martial arts. As I progressed in my drumming endeavors, studying the style of Vinnie Colaiuta was a pursuit of mine and one of the people he spoke of was Bruce Lee.

I first read "The Way of the Peaceful Warrior" years ago when I was overseas and in my 20's. Immediately I started applying the principles put forth by the incredible Dan Millman and striven to lead a "Zen Lifestyle". It caused me to realize that rather than "fight the river", use the flow of the water to your advantage.

If only more people in the world were like this 11 year old, we would be just fine. THis makes me want to grab my kid and hug him as tightly as I can.

Eleven year old Brenden Foster died this day of Friday, 21 November 2008, but throughout this world he will be remembered always. His darkest hour was his brightest light. This is a story as much of his words as it is of his deeds.

His dying wish was to help the homeless. "They're probably starving, so give 'em a chance, food and water." It has become a national movement. He wasn't afraid to die. He had said that he just wanted to make a difference, before his time came. And he did!

Karl Joseph is "One of a kind". He was born with one leg and it seems not to matter to him. If you truly seek to accomplish a goal, you'll find a way. This man lets NOTHING get in his way.
