Newcastle! Oh how I do love the north of England. What a pretty city it is there. I've played there once before back in 2010 with Earl Thomas and the Kings of Rhythm (Ike Turner's old band) at the Sage. On this night though we played the Riverside, which was the old fish market.
It was a cool building and had a functional shower! (yay!!) Of course, I managed to slip a little and put a cut across my chin with the razor. See, I hadn't quite gotten my "bus legs" on yet and my balance was a bit wonky. The shower stall was tiny and that contributed to the temporary vertigo.
During the daytime, I walked around into town because I had to find a way to trim out the broken section of the cymbal in order to coax a bit more life out of it. If I can make it work I will. And so I bought a small cutting device and took out the bad part. Of course, the cymbal ended up dying that evening and I put it on the merch table for PG to sell. Drumheads and busted cymbals are always good saleable items and help defray costs.
It was a great night and we all had a total blast. I was kinda sad to leave.
