St. Petersburg was pretty damn cool! After leaving Moscow at 5am, we made our way to the train station and took the high speed rail to St. Pete. It was a comfortable train and they had a dining car with many choices of eats.
We arrived at about 12pm and while it was a clear sunny day, it gets damn cold there! It was just at the beginning of fall (Sept. 14) and already the temperature was in the low 40's (6c). I wouldn't want to be stuck there in January but I'm sure it's beautiful. I'm not a huge fan of extreme weather conditions.
The show at Aurora Hall was great and all the kinks were out of our system. It's always nice when things "just work" all around. I gotta say, playing in this band is a total gas because it's a no-stress environment. You're expected to "bring it" every night and when everyone does what they do, it all works out.
After the gig I went to the bar and had a couple of drinks (you know... to warm up in the cold) and as I was having my shower before I hit the rack, managed to cut the top of my ear as I was shaving. Long story short, the room looked like a murder scene and I alerted the front desk that in the wastebasket in the complimentary laundry bags were a bunch of bloody towels. I swear, I've never bled that much from any one injury. I guess it was the alcohol that thinned my blood and well... that won't happen again I hope!
